Abstract
Vacuum field equations for the Einstein-Rosen cylindrically symmetric metric are obtained in a scalar-tensor theory of gravitation proposed by Ross [D.K. Ross, Phys. Rev. D. 5 (1972), 284]. It is shown that in each of the static and non-static cases the solutions of the field equations simply yield the vacuum models of general relativity.
